Lifestart is a home based family support service which delivers the evidence-based Lifestart Growing Child Programme, monthly universal programme to all first time parents of children from birth to three years living in the region. The Growing Child Programme is a programme which offers advice, support and guidance to parents on all aspects of their child’s development. Within this model families are identified either by the Lifestart family visitor or by the referring agency (generally the public health nursing service or social work teams) as in need of additional support and are then targeted for a more intensive service, which offers families support on a more regular basis up until the child reaches 5 years of age. Lifestart also offers parenting programmes.
