Employment Response North West

We work with People with any type of disability, long term injury or illness who are interested in finding employment.  We support People with disabilities, illness or injury to find and maintain jobs. Our focus is on People’s abilities, skills and interests, combined with their motivation to find Employment. Individuals are referred through the INTREO Employment Services Officers in the Department of Social Protection.  We match the recruitment needs of Employers with the skills and abilities of Job Seekers with disabilities.

Hawk’s Well Theatre

We present an annual programme of events, a portion of which are aimed at younger audiences and family audiences. Events for children and families range from entertaining and educational events to workshops and interactive experiences.

St. Vincent De Paul

St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) members visit individuals and families who have requested help in their local communities. Most towns/villages have an SVP conference (group) and the core work is visitation.  SVP members can help by offering friendship and support to service users and also help in practical ways by providing assistance to purchase food, heat, clothes etc.

Domestic Violence Advocacy Service

Domestic Violence Advocacy Service, Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan [DVAS], are a non-governmental organisation that provide services to women experiencing domestic violence. The core purpose of our service is to maximise safety for women and their children. DVAS have a helpline and also provide support, information and advocacy through a one to one support service. The services we offer women include: · Telephone Helpline · 1 to 1 appointments in our Sligo and Carrick-on-Shannon offices · 1 to 1 appointments on an outreach basis · Court Accompaniment · Advocacy · Support groups Safe crisis accommodation in our Safe House units. Advocacy with and for women is core to our response and our workers are actively involved in working with agencies and institutions towards ensuring that victim safety is centralised at all times. We work with other agencies to support the development of a good practice response to violence against women and raise awareness in the community about the prevalence and nature of domestic violence and of the options open to women.

ThisAbility

ThisAbility is a group set up by parents to cater for persons with disabilities, their parents, siblings and other family members. This group is open to all, regardless of disability or age of the person and their family members.   

Some activities include:    Swimming, Horse Riding, Summer camps, Christmas Party’s,  Monthly Workshops.   

Anyone attending activities  must have a parent/ guardian with them at all times during activities as these are not drop off services.

The Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim

The Dock presents a year round artistic programme of visual art, theatre, music, dance, comedy and performance art and is augmented by an arts education and outreach programme that provides people of all ages and backgrounds with the opportunities to engage in a meaningful way with all aspects of our artistic programme.

The Dock provides support for artists to develop their practice and show new work through our residency programmes. 

The Dock provides space for local arts groups and practitioners to meet, create and develop ideas and partnerships.

We are developing our education programme, with an emphasis on children and young people.  We cater for adults and the elderly also.  Our education programme includes classes in art, singing, music technology , drama and some craft workshops.
