We provide youth activities through Youth City from ages 8 to 17 years. This includes educational programmes such as active citizenship, nutrition, gardening, computers, sports activities, arts and crafts. We also host educational programmes for adults (computers, home maintenance, cookery).
We have one programme, TAPPED (Technical and Personal Pre-employment Development) which is targeted at young unemployed men (18-35 years) from the Regeneration Area. TAPPED is a personal development course that uses car maintenance as a tool to deliver the project.
We provide space for a Public Health Clinic once a week; a Counselling Service in the therapy room and outreach service for those experiencing difficulties with substance abuse and their families (adults only).
DVAS services are targeted at women in Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. Our awareness work is targeted at the general public and training is provided to practitioners in relevant statutory, community and voluntary organisations. Domestic Violence Advocacy Service is a non- governmental organisation working for the rights of all women and children affected by domestic violence in Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan. DVAS provide support to women who experience domestic abuse and other forms of gender based violence through a range of free, confidential and accessible front-line services that focus on maximizing women and children’s safety, DVAS provide emotional support, information provision about a range of rights, entitlements and options open to women, risk assessment, safety planning and advocacy on a one to one basis to women at risk. This can be accessed by women through our helpline, at one to one support sessions in DVAS bases in Sligo and Carrick on Shannon, or on outreach visits in a safe and confidential locality close to where the woman lives. DVAS also provide a Court Accompaniment service and short term crisis accommodation in the DVAS Safe House service. A new service providing self help groups for survivors of domestic abuse will start in September 2015. DVAS also carry out awareness raising activities on the issue of violence against women and work to influence relevant institutions in Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan to ensure that women and their children have access to their human rights, safety, accountability and justice.
Childhood Days is a service for children with disabilities which provides care, activities and outings for children with disabilities.
Leitrim Development Company is a community led Local Development Company. We deliver a range of rural, social and economic programmes at local level across County Leitrim. We support communities, individuals and businesses to increase their economic sustainability and improve their quality of life. Supports include capital grant aid, technical assistance, guidance and mentoring, information and support, training opportunities and development initiatives.
Programmes include:
- Youth and Education Local Training Initiative for early schools leavers aged between 18 and 25 years of age, based at Lough Allen Centre, Drumshanbo.
- Pre and after school service for traveller children at Shannonside Community Childcare, Carrick-on-Shannon.
- Mohill Afterschool Service for primary school children in the Mohill area, based in Marian College, Mohill.
- Mohill Traveller Afterschool Service for traveller children, both primary and secondary, based in Marian College, Mohill.
- ChildcareCommunity Employment Scheme, providing accredited training and work placement to participants in community owed childcare facilities throughout Leitrim.
- Traveller Parenting Support Programme providing parenting support to traveller families.
- Traveller Youth Programme providing a programme of youth support programme for young travellers.
Tusla – Child and Family Agency Social Work department caters for families and children where allegations of abuse and neglect have been made. The main task is to safeguard and protect children believed to be at risk of abuse and neglect. The service targets families and children only in level 3 to 4 of the Hardiker Model.
Samaritans provide free confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. Our service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are open and available to anyone, of any age, who may feel the need to talk about something that is bothering them. Bodywhys supports individuals with an eating disorder. We have a helpline open at specific times Mon-Fri and also on Sunday. The Sligo, Leitrim Early Intervention Team for Children, delivers an interdisciplinary service to children with complex developmental needs in the 0-6 year age group. The Team aims to work in partnership with families/guardians on their journey through assessment, diagnosis and intervention, to enable each child to reach their potential.
I.T. Sligo Student Counselling Service aims to provide a professional, confidential support service that is free of charge to all registered I.T. Sligo students.
The service offers students the opportunity to explore any issue which may be impacting on their mental health and general well-being in a confidential setting.

The statutory and school support services of the Child and Family Agency’s Educational Welfare Services work together collaboratively and cohesively with schools and other relevant services to secure better educational outcomes for children and young people.
